Arsenal striker Yaya Sanogo is set to leave the club on loan in the January transfer window. According to reports from David Ornstein of BBC, Wenger is keen to send him on loan to any Premier League club than shipping him out overseas.
The 21-year-old France youth international joined as a free agent in 2013, after his contract expired at French side Auxerre, has just scored only once this season, against Borrusia Dortmud in the Champions League.
The decision makes lot of sense, as the youngster is certain to drop down pecking orders and will struggle for regular games, especially with Olivier Giroud now returning to full fitness.
Wenger has an avalanche of attacking depth at disposal with the likes of Alexis Sanchez, Danny Welbeck and Lukas Podolski all capable of playing up front.
Early this month, The Times journalist Matt Hughes reported that Arsenal were planning to offload Lukas Podolski and Joel Campbell, when the transfer window opens in January.
The Frenchman feels that the Gunners need immediate attention in central midfield and central defence, and therefore is looking to recoup money by selling some of the fringe squad-players.
Podolski gave an interview with German newspaper Bild last month, where he made it clear that he is not happy at Arsenal.
“It is clear in any case. Something has to happen. It can not go on like this. I’ll sit out my contract at Arsenal under any circumstances.
“There was for me, even in summer deals clubs already seem to be able to assess what a Lukas Podolski is worth to them..”
“Still I am at Arsenal under contract, nothing happened. I, too, must me now ask ‘Is it perhaps me this I must now draw my conclusions?”
Likewise, Campbell has struggled to get regular games as well. The Costa Rican, who impressed heavily during the 2014 FIFA World cup, has had to remain content with bit-part roles this season.

Arsenal are looking to offload them permanently, rather than sending on loan, and the Frenchman is planning to use the money to bolster his defensive resources. Wenger has been given a transfer budget of £20 million to spend by Arsenal’s board next month, but it is highly unlikely he will use the full money, rather the Frenchman is likely to go for a short-term option.
Last January Arsenal signed Kim Kallström on loan, and Wenger will be hoping to do such type of business again to sign any good defender.
Does this mean Wenger has a plan for either of Podolski or Campbell? It remains to be seen, but a loan move for Sanogo will do a world of good for the youngster.
