As the ‘21 Kentucky Derby is fast approaching, fans and bettors’ eyes must be now at the leaderboards and future wager updates as part of their picking their horse bet. Now that Kentucky Derby Future Wager (KDFW) Pool 2 is released, they have to see each horse’s current odds of winning the Derby.

The latest KDFW, from 22-24 January 2021, lists 24 contenders to bet on. There are 23 individual-named horses, and the 24th is an option for betting on “all others.” Who are these horses? Get to know these top favourites for the upcoming Derby.

Life Is Good

After giving a phenomenal performance on his debut, Life Is Good won again on his recent race in the Grade 3 $100,000 Sham Stakes last 2 January. This let him climb up to the top of the Future Wager as the 6-1 favourite among the 23 other contenders. Bob Baffert really gives his efforts in training this colt.

As one of the best picks at www.tvg.com, Life Is Good can actually be part of the strongest contender for the Derby. Bettors should keep an eye on this three-year-old colt.

Essential Quality

Since his debut, Brad H. Cox’s excellent colt Essential Quality keeps on sweeping the first place on his first three races. With that, he placed second on the Future Wager Pool 2 with the 8-1 odds of winning. He is one of the top colts of the Derby.

Essential Quality has two upcoming races this February. Expect some changes on his odds or leaderboards after the results of those races.

Medina Spirit

Despite losing his recent race against the stablemate Life Is Good in Sham Stakes-G3, Baffert’s another colt Medina Spirit still made his odds pretty high, ranked third as the 12-1 favourite. His performance in that race was amazing, almost making it close to winning, but he ended up in second place.

This colt actually gave an impressive run during the Sham Stakes. He successfully decreased the gap on the final furlong, which almost tanked Life Is Good. With more Baffert’s push, he can have a great run in the Derby.

Concert Tour

On his debut last 15 January, another Baffert-trained colt Concert Tour made his maiden win on the six furlongs on the main track at Santa Anita. With Baffert’s unleashed another colt, Concert Tour is now 15-1 favourite in Pool 2 of KDFW, making him fourth overall in the list.

Bettors must be really digging on Bob Baffert’s trained horses. What can we expect more from the Hall-of-Famer trainer? Well, he still has one unraced colt that everybody should look forward to.

Bezos

This Baffert-trained colt has not made his first run on the official race yet, but he already got into Pool 2 of KDFW. Moreover, he is a 20-1 favourite among the list of 24 horses. But what is the reason why is he now part of the future wager?

Simply because it’s Bob Baffert, the Hall of Famer trainer. In one of Bezos’ workouts, the colt covered five furlongs in only one minute and one second. That is why fans and bettors should look forward to this guy.

Highly Motivated

Highly Motivated is indeed motivated with his standing on the races he has run. He got first place in his two recent races. With this, he got the 20-1 odds in KDFW Pool 2. But in his future races under Chad C. Brown’s training, this might still change, so keep updated in his races.

Jackie’s Warrior

Jackie’s Warrior still made it on the list despite being fourth on his last race against Essential Quality, Hot Rod Charlie, and Keepmeinmind. He is now the 20-1 favourite in the current future wager. Trainer Steven M. Asmussen still has the time to make him a much stronger contender to make up for his poor performance in his last race.

Keepmeinmind

Robertino Diodoro-trained colt Keepmeinmind performed well in his last race. He finally got his first win on Kentucky Jockey Club-G2 last 28 November. That made him gain with the 20-1 odds in the KDFW Pool 2 among the Derby contenders.

The colt has an upcoming race this 15 February. Thus, the future odds will depend on that race’s result.

Mandaloun

Having 20-1, Mandaloun still did good after placing third on his last race, breaking his two-streak win. Trainer Brad H. Cox can still develop his skills. In his upcoming race this 13 February, let’s see if he will regain his first place, which might change his odds for the Derby.

Senor Buscador

Having no losses on all of his two races, Senor Buscador acquired the 20-1 odds in the current KDFW. His trainer Todd W. Fincher still needs to keep up the consistency in his performance to increase his winning the Derby odds.

Takeaway

All of the 24 Derby contenders’ odds are still possible for changes. That will depend on their future performances. Thus, bettors must keep updated on their races, odds, and the leaderboard to help them make a final bet on the 147th Kentucky Derby.
