Jose Mourinho simply loves Mesut Ozil. The pair worked together during their time with Real Madrid and ahead of Chelsea’s crucial Premier League encounter with Arsenal, the Portuguese didn’t forget to praise the German superstar.
The 25-year-old is the record signing for the Gunners and made an instant impact. Mourinho feels that with players like Ozil, any team gets automatically better and expects Arsenal to challenge for the title. Jose said as quoted in The Guardian:
“Mesut is a phenomenal player, one of these players that you buy to complete the puzzle of your team. You don’t need time with him, you need nothing. The player just arrives. His quality and his maturity and his leadership … you put him in and you know automatically your team becomes better.”
Arsene Wenger on the other hand never strops praising his own players. The Frenchman feels that Ozil needs some rest but not against Chelsea.
Former Liverpool player now turned pundit Michael Owen claimed recently that Ozil is too inconsistent, but Wenger has paid huge compliment by claiming that Ozil reminds him of club legend Robert Pires and has no doubt that the German star will be a huge success at the North London club.
“He looks to me like Pires. It took a while for Pires to adapt to the physical side of the game. Once he had adapted he was absolutely amazing. He is a similar type of player.”
Just a reminder for the Arsenal fans, Wenger back in September said Ozil reminds him of club legend Dennis Bergkamp as well, because of their similar playing styles.
