Arsenal need a striker in the summer and even Arsene Wenger knows that as well. The Gunners however have yet to sign a player while their rivals – Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester United and Manchester City – have all been heavily active in the transfer market so far.
According to reports from The Telegraph, Arsenal are keen to sign at least two strikers in the summer and have targeted Frenchman Loic Remy alongside a second more expensive signing.
Remy is keen to play for a Champions League club and has a release clause of only £8m (€10m). His parent club QPR have not received any official offer yet but the report suggest Wenger has earmarked him as a viable option, who has the versatility to play in various attacking positions in his 4-2-3-1 system.
Strikers Nicklas Bendtner and Ju Young Park have left the club, which leaves Wenger with Olivier Giroud as the only lone striker at Arsenal. And even probably he understands he cannot continue to rely so heavily on the Frenchman.
Despite Wenger claiming recently that Arsenal are not interested in AC Milan striker Mario Balotelli (€30m market price), but The Telegraph says, Wenger is keeping an option open for him. Also, there is an interest for Croatian striker Mario Mandzukic (€30m face value), whose future lies away from Bayern Munich.
Arsenal academy players Chuks Aneke, Daniel Boateng, Zach Fagan and Leander Siemann left the club after reaching the end of their contract while Bacary Sagna, Lukasz Fabianski and Zak Ansah had already completed their moves to Manchester City, Swansea City and Charlton Athletic.
