Internazionale coach Jose Mourinho was in another defiant mood ahead of his side’s Coppa Italia final with AS Roma by hitting out at their president Rosella Sensi demanding her respect. Mourinho and his team are building up for yet another showpiece with Roma which will incredibly be the fifth time in six years that the two Italian giants have met in the final.
The Nerrazzuri and Giallorossi are also at the forefront of the Serie A title race with the champions Inter leading the challengers by just two points. Mourinho’s men however have been heavily criticised by Roma’s president Sensi following Inters 2-0 victory over Roma’s bitter city rivals Lazio this past Sunday at the Stadio Olimpico which saw a rather tame performance from a Lazio side fighting relegation and also the home crowd rooting for the opposition to spite their neighbours chances of winning the Italian championship.
Sensi now finds herself feeling the wrath of the Portuguese tactician after she adamantly stated that the Milan club should be ashamed of their victory.
Mourinho said:
“Only thieves should be ashamed and we’ve got to this point playing two finals (also the Champions League) and for the title not because we were born in a golden cradle but thanks to our hard work.”
“We don’t deserve respect, we demand it. That lady (Sensi) can be a president, a doctor or born in a golden cradle but she has to respect us.”
The former Chelsea boss didn’t stop there has he also fumed at the final being played at the Stadio Olimpico, the home of AS Roma, but he did reserve praise for Claudio Ranieri’s sides rehabilitation in 2010 to get back in the title hunt after trailing Inter by 14 points back in November.
“Two years ago Roma took the title to the wire against Inter, last year wasn’t so good but I’ve always recognised the potential in their team, and with a squad like theirs they could not continue the way they started the season, it seemed logical to me that they would finish in the top four.”
“Now they have the good fortune to be playing the Cup final at home, something which happens nowhere else in the world. I don’t know any other cup competitions where one team plays the final at home. It would be different if we were playing in Naples, Florence or Bologna.”
Questions have also been raised over the future of the 48 year old who has been heavily linked with a return to the Premier League and Spanish superpower Real Madrid but Mourinho refused to commit his ties to Inter next season stating that anything is possible in football.
“No. In football you can’t say anything.”
He said bluntly.
Inter are are on the verge of a historic treble as they will also be in the Spanish capital of Madrid come May 15th where they will go toe to toe with German giants Bayern Munich in the Champions League final.
