Ahead of Manchester United’s home tie against Newcastle United on Saturday, former Liverpool hero and BBC pundit Mark Lawrenson has dropped a huge bombshell suggesting that Robin van Persie has asked Manchester United for a move out.
Speaking to Today FM, he said: “There’s all sorts of rumours coming out of the training ground at the moment,”
“One or two of the press boys that I know that cover Manchester United, they’re even saying that the big whisper is Van Persie might have asked for a transfer on Tuesday.”
Well, Lawrenson has great contacts within the media field, having associated with BBC since his retirement in 1990, but, better not to give too much credence to it at the moment, as it is just that another rumour, started by one man.
Van Persie joined Man Utd last season from Arsenal and there’s no reason why he should leave the club or why United should entertain any offers for him, unless there is any serious breakdown in relationship between the Dutchman and manager David Moyes.
According to Daily Mirror, Arsenal and Tottenham have been put on red alert by Paris Saint-Germain’s Ezequiel Lavezzi, whose future has come under speculation in recent weeks.
According to the report, the Argentina international has struggled for regular first team opportunities and dropped down the pecking orders behind Edinson Cavani, who joined from Napoli in the summer.
“I do not know [what will happen in the future],” said Lavezzi, while speaking to La Parisien.
“A player never knows exactly all these things. But what I can tell you is that I will do everything to change my situation in Paris because I did not give my best shot and I do not want this to continue.”
Both Arsenal and Spurs are thought to be keen on the former Napoli star and following his comments would take notice ahead of next month’s transfer window.
