According to reports in Spain, Liverpool and Arsenal target Marcos Rojo could well be on his way to Barcelona in the summer to join international team mate Lionel Messi at the Camp Nou.

The 24 year old Sporting club de Portugal defender has enjoyed a great season in his native country featuring in 25 appearances for the club scoring 4 goals in the process.

We had long way back reported that Barcelona were in pole position to sign the left back who can also play at centre back position. There are claims that a mass exodus is set to follow at Camp Nou after new manager Luis Enrique took over from the departing Tata Martino, who quit after a disappointing campaign in charge.

Barcelona have only Gerrard Pique, Marc Bartra and Javier Mascherano as the specialist centre backs and the Spanish giants are determined to bolster their squad for the coming campaign.

Rojo’s deal might complicated by the fact that he has a whooping release clause but Barcelona believe that a €30m bid will convince the player to switch loyalties in the summer post the World Cup where the defender will play a key role for Argentina.

The Blaugrana are also seeking the possibility to sign Paris St Germain’s Brazilian defender Marquinhos and are willing to table a bid of around €20m including Dani Alves in the deal.

O Jogo today reported that PSG have also joined the race for Rojo. It remains to be seen, whether Liverpool or Arsenal make any formal move for the versatile defender in the next few weeks.
