Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema is almost certain to leave the club in summer. The French striker has expressed his desire to leave the club and doesn’t want to renew his contract.
Arsenal are possibly front runners in the race to sign him, with Arsene Wenger dropping a huge bombshell during the Champions League final, claiming Benzema might have played his last game for Madrid and could be heading to the Premier League.
The Gunners desperately need one or two top strikers in the summer and a move for Benzema is most likely. Likewise, Manchester United, who were close to signing him before he joined Madrid, are set to rekindle their interest again.
Spanish newspaper EL Confidencial reports that all indications are suggesting Benzema’s career at Madrid is all but over, despite the Frenchman enjoying a brilliant campaign where he scored 24 goals in all competitions.
First of all his contract ends in June 30, 2015 and he doesn’t want to renew it. Secondly, Madrid are targeting either of Sergio Aguero and Luis Suarez as the attacking spearhead of the team next season. PSG are also thought to be interested in signing the French forward next season.
Should Arsenal move quickly and secure a deal for Benzema?
