Welcome to Soccerlens’ daily Manchester United news roundup. We look at the news that are doing the rounds today, starting from the update on injuries for Everton clash to the daily transfer roundup of the players who are linked to Red Devils.
Manchester United Injury Update for Everton clash
United captain Wayne Rooney and midfielder Michael Carrick had missed England’s Euro 2016 qualifiers against Estonia and Lithuania due to ankle and groin injuries respectively. The Three Lions’ last clash was an away fixture and the Red Devils duo did not travel with the squad to Lithuania.
Rooney and Carrick are set to overcome any injury worries and give Louis van Gaal a timely boost for the tie against Everton. The Old Trafford club have lost their last two matches to the Toffees at Goodison Park.
According to the Liverpool Echo, both Ander Herrera and Marcos Rojo are expected to be fit to face the Toffees. Sky Sports report that defender Paddy McNair has sustained an abdominal injury during Northern Ireland’s 1-1 draw against Finland and is still in Helsinki.
Memphis-Van Persie training ground row
United wide man Memphis Depay and former striker Robin van Persie were involved in a row on the training ground while on international duty with Netherland. Depay moved to Old Trafford from PSV Eindhoven in the summer and has seen a dip in form in recent times.
Van Persie was allowed to leave by Van Gaal and he joined Fenerbahce the same summer. The Dutch team coach Danny Blind – father of United star Daley Blind – confirmed the two players were involved in a row.
Daily Manchester United Transfer Roundup
Long-term United transfer target and Sporting midfielder William Carvalho has admitted that he is fond of Arsenal. This could be a blow for Red Devils as they were in the chase for the Portugal international’s signature.
Former Barcelona midfielder Xavi has admitted he would have liked to play for the Old Trafford club, if he had had a chance to join United. The 2015 summer transfer window ended last month and the rumours for next summer have already started to surface, but it’s unlikely Xavi will be playing in the Premier League at this stage of his career.
Italian publication Calciomercato believes Van Gaal has identified Napoli midfielder Jorginho as the target after the end of this season. The same report also suggests Paris Saint-Germain are also monitoring the Brazilian-born Italian player.
