Transfer Watch: Bendtner to Juventus, Schweinsteiger to Manchester, Cassano to Liverpool?

Today’s football rumours column looks at the major transfer stories cropping up around Europe as clubs prepare to bunker down / dip into the winter transfer market.

1) Nicklas Bendtner to Juventus?

Juventus are reportedly keen on adding a striker to their squad, and reports in England suggest that should the loan-deal agreement with Manchester City collapse concerning Emmanuel Adebayor, ‘The Old Lady’ would turn to Arsenal striker Nicklas Bendtner, who has had his share of hard times on the bench in Emirates, despite coming off the bench to score and impress several times since last year. The team from Turin are said to be preparing a £12 million swoop at the Danish international, who has been found frustrated with the lack of starts as he has been heard saying:

” If the situation doesn’t change, if I keep sitting on the bench at Arsenal, I will leave. It’s as simple as that.”

However, a source close to the club has stated that Arsene Wenger is insisting that Bendtner would remain at the club till at least the end of the season, and only then will he listen to offers. The source continued:

“Arsene wants to keep Nicklas until the end of the season while the team is still challenging for honours and will then listen to offers for him. He has had a lot of interest in him over the last few years in England and on the Continent and has always resisted them because he believes in his potential but recognises it might be a good time to cash in, especially if Nicklas is unhappy.”

Hmm, interesting stuff going on in London…

2) Bastian Schweinsteiger to Old Trafford?

Manchester United are, according to The Mirror, set to offer German outfit Bayern Munchen £12 million for the services of the 26 year-old, whose contract expires in 2012. Red Devils coach Sir Alex Ferguson has been found very interested in Shweinsteiger for some time now, and now that the club are having some troubles sorting out the contract talks with Bastian, and with the Glazers willing to give Fergsuon £50 million to act with next summer, it might not be so impossible.

3) Anfield switch for Cassano?

Sampdoria striker Antonio Cassano has been recently linked with a move to struggling Merseysiders Liverpool, after the feud with club president Riccardo Garrone. The striker faces a quarrel with the problem surrounding the fact that Sampdoria might not have the rights to terminate the 28 year-old’s contract, and Tuttomercatoweb.com claims that Liverpool are ready to fight for the player who is said to be found on a big number of clubs’ shopping list. However, reports have revealed that Cassano has agreed a contract with Serie A champions Inter Milan, who have been said to be interested in him for a long time.

4) David Beckham to Blue Merseyside?

The former Manchester United man has been linked with a loan-move to Everton, with David Moyes said to be very interested in the 35 year-old. The injury-struck midfielder has been poised to go through painfull moments, having sustained an injury before the World Cup in a few months. The Englishman had to sit on the bench in South Africa, and has since then faced fitness difficulties. However, the superstar has insisted that he has not yet made up his mind concerning a return to England, as he is only aiming to get over his fitness problems:

“I’m just trying to get myself fit and get my fitness back from obviously the injury I got seven months ago,”Beckham said, according to ITN.

“So I am just trying to make sure my body is in the right condition and then I’ll think about it. But I haven’t decided anything yet.”

5) David Trezeguet back to Italia?

The Herucles man is being marked by Inter Milan accroding to his agent, Antonio Caliendo. The 33 year-old has scored 7 goals in 11 games this season, and Antonio claims that his client might be seen in the San Siro come January, but nothing is cement so far, as Inter are going through some rough times, on the pitch, and in the boardroom.

“Recently there has been a good rapport with Inter and I cannot exclude that we will talk again in the coming days,”Caliendo told Calciomercatonews.com.

“We have to be cautious though as Inter are in a delicate moment and so we cannot make predicitons.”

The agent has good connections with Inter, knowing that his other client is Inter Milan defender Maicon.
