A look at today’s latest transfer rumours and gossip.
Barcelona to sell off players for the youth?
Barcelona’s duo of Bojan Krkic and Giovanni Dos Santos have been coming along well in recent months; they have also been hinting at wanting to play more, as any promising starlets would want to do.
To allow them to do so, Barcelona may offload ex-Chelsea forward Eidur Gudjohnsen as well as almost forgotten Santi Ezquerro, with Premiership clubs apparently interested in both. Gudjohnsen was supposed to be the target of Manchester United, West Ham and Newcastle in the summer, and has already hinted that he would favour a move to the Premiership should he leave, while Ezquerro has been linked with Everton and Bolton.
As for whether they would cope in the Premier League, Gudjohnsen did so remarkably well for Chelsea over the years while Ezquerro would take time to bed in, but should still prove a bargain if he is available for cheap.
Charlton to sign Arsenal star
Now when exactly Alex Song was known as a star is yet to be decided but Charlton apparently want the player they took on loan in the past on a permanent deal.
Song was one of the shining lights as Charlton were relegated, and the player that was dubbed ‘the next Zidane’ (note, may or may not be true :D) may return to the club. With Abou Diaby, Denilson, Lassana Diarra, Mathieu Flamini and Gilberto all ahead of him in the defensive midfielder position it seems like Song does not have a future at Arsenal, and with Charlton one of the contenders to make the leap into the Premiership next year he could find a stable place in the heart of their midfield.
Another Day; Another Cescy Rumour
This time it’s Real Madrid that Cesc Fabregas is linked with, something that will annoy Arsenal fans even more. Real of course have been constantly after the club’s players, be it Anelka, Vieira or Thierry Henry and Calderon has made it quite clear in the past that they would love to sign Fabregas.
How willing Fabregas would be to play at the Bernabeu is questionable, especially as he is a Catalan; Real however could try and tempt the Gunners with a massive bid. While Fabregas had always been a promising player in the past, he has added to his game the goals he promised while playing as a youth player for Barcelona, and if he keeps up his stellar form it seems that the rumours will only increase.
Real Madrid were also linked with Everton dynamo Mikel Arteta, who was supposed to be almost in Chelsea’s clutches yesterday. The ever reliable Marca carry the rumour though, and we haven’t forgotten Everton defender Joleon Lescott was linked with becoming a Galactico a few months back, so take the rumour with a juggernaut-load of salt :).
Rolando Bianchi Considers Position
Bianchi looked like he would do well in the Premiership after the Italian striker scored in his first Premiership game; he barely got a look in during the next few months despite Bojinov being injured as Sven decided to stick with Emile Mpenza. Bianchi is now considering his future as any other top level striker would, and would no doubt have a large list of suitors should he decide he wants to leave the club. Manchester City have recently been linked with the likes of Nicolas Anelka and Michael Owen, and if most strikers are going to be coming in Bianchi may even leave in the January transfer window.
Another whizkid Linked With Manchester United
Today it’s Ransford Osei who is linked with Manchester United; the Ghanaian striker starring for his national side at the recent FIFA U17 World Cup. Osei scored six goals during the tournament in Korea, winning him the silver boot and according to him it is almost certain that he will be plying his trade at Old Trafford in the coming months. The 16-year old currently plays for Kessben in the Ghanaian Premier League.
