Today’s early transfer rumors roundup almost feels like a blast from the past for me, not only because these are yesterday’s headlines, but because it features a few names who have been prominently featured in a number of roundups in past transfer windows.
Perhaps a taste of deja vu or what have you isn’t such a bad thing for you, but it’d be nice if these guys, you know, move already.
England
Everton Seek Senderos Swoop
Everton are set to make a move for Arsenal center back Philippe Senderos. (The Mirror)
Analysis: Senderos was on Everton’s shortlist in the summer, so this interest isn’t new. Their chances to land him might be better than ever as well, as Sol Campbell’s return to Arsenal, combined with the fact that Senderos was barely getting a game as is, is anything but encouraging for his future at the Emirates.
Birmingham Eye Janko
The latest name to pop up on Birmingham‘s striker shortlist is Austrian star Marc Janko, who could be snapped up for 6.5 million pounds. (Daily Mail)
Analysis: Janko would certainly come cheaper than their other targets would, and considering what they looked to be prepared to pay for Kenwyne Jones and Ryan Babel, coughing up the 6.5m for Janko shouldn’t be a problem.
Spain
Real In Moses Move?
Real Madrid have emerged as a surprise entrant into the race for Crystal Palace forward Victor Moses. (Daily Mail)
Analysis: It’s certainly a nice feather in your cap to know that the likes of Real Madrid are interested in you, even if he decides to sign elsewhere. I think he’ll wind up staying in England and signing with a Premier League side, but only time will tell.
Italy
Baptista In Inter Talks
The agent of Roma star Julio Baptista says that negotiations are underway for his client to move to Inter, and he‘s hopeful that a deal can be done by the end of this month. (Goal.com)
Analysis: I’m sure Baptista would like to get a move sorted out as quickly as possible, as his role has been significantly reduced this season after an impressive campaign last term.
Germany
Cologne Move For Weiss?
Young Manchester City winger Vladimir Weiss is considering shunning Premier League interest in favor of a loan move to Cologne. (Daily Mail)
Analysis: Even after re-signing Lukas Podolski, Cologne are last in the Bundesliga in goals scored with a paltry 10 through 17 league matches, so they’d certainly benefit from having a creative presence like Weiss to get things a little more active on the attacking end.
Holland
McClaren Targets Wilshere Loan
Steve McClaren is looking to bring in Arsenal starlet Jack Wilshere on loan for the remainder of the season, provided he can offload another squad member first to help free up the necessary wage money. (Daily Mail)
Analysis: Perhaps a move within the Premier League might seem more sensible to some, but this would be a great move for Wilshere. He’d get a chance to develop and all the while playing a crucial part in a title run, and not only that, being in a league that’s all about attacking, he’d be in the perfect situation to show off his full potential on a regular basis.
Greece
Olympiakos Return For Castillo
Shakhtar Donetsk forward Nery Castillo is set to make a return to former club Olympiakos, as the former Manchester City man is moving back to Greece on loan. (Goal.com)
Analysis: His career has hit the skids since he moved from Olympiakos to Shakhtar in 2007, but a return to the club where he developed and made a name for himself will hopefully bring out his best again.
Turkey
Galatasaray Land Neill
Everton defender Lucas Neill is on his way to Galatasaray in a million-pound deal. The veteran Australia international could suit up for the Toffees on Saturday against Manchester City, but he will be off Turkey after that. (Daily Mail)
Analysis: Comes as a surprise to us all there, really. But considering that Jagielka will hopefully be back soon, and that Neill could be replaced by someone younger and more of a long-term puzzle piece in Senderos, then it’s not bad to be able to get a little something for someone you brought in for free.
