The struggles of the reigning Premier League champions, Manchester United, have been well documented, with David Moyes’ struggles to recapture the form of previous seasons a fascinating sub-plot to one of the most exciting seasons for many years.
From his shaky defence, to the Wayne Rooney saga, Moyes has certainly had his hands full since his appointment in the summer, but the situation surrounding Robin van Persie has been the main talking point of the last few weeks, with the Dutch striker visibly distressed at his current plight up top for United.
But will he leave in the summer?

RVP’s clearly not having the best time of it at present. The 30-year-old has most recently been seen trudging around up top for Manchester United, barely getting a sniff, and making the most impact with his scathing post-match comments regarding both his manager and his teammates.

Throughout United’s stuttering campaign, Van Persie has been linked with moves to several top European sides, with a spectacular return to Arsenal one of the most recent and most eye-catching.
The flavour of the week however seems to be Serie A side Juventus, with the Daily Mirror claiming that Van Persie is willing to forgo a £10m loyalty bonus to cut short his stay in Manchester, and move to Italy.
The report also states that the striker was close to joining the Serie A leaders back in 2012, but ultimately chose to move up north to United. Now with the Italian side back in the hunt, the Mirror have said that RVP is willing to jump ship, if Juve can adequately compensate United in the summer.
Soccerlens verdict:
You cannot ignore his body-language, the outspoken nature of his post-match interviews, or the intense speculation claiming that Van Persie has had enough of life under David Moyes.
Juventus are the best team in the Italian top flight, remain a potent force in the Champions League, and can offer decent wages. Carlos Tevez and Fernando Llorente have formed a formidable partnership in recent weeks, but you feel that a player of Van Persie’s quality would be able to muscle in on their parade.
Now 30, the chances of Van Persie moving to the likes of Barcelona or Bayern Munich are slim, with a move to Juve a much more likely scenario. Arsenal rarely bring in players past their 20’s, but there is always the chance their former captain can be an exception to the rule.
David Moyes continues to insist that Van Persie is happy at the club, and there is no truth in the rumours linking him away, but if his side fail to snatch that fourth spot, as is likely at this juncture, then there is surely every chance that the Dutch star will move on in the summer.
