With Liverpool laughing off Arsenal’s previous bid of £25M to procure Luis Suarez’ signature, the word from his representatives is the Uruguayan will cost £40M this summer.

Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester City, and Real Madrid have been keen to sign the 26-year old, but have yet to make an offer that meets Liverpool’s valuation.

The want-away striker has previously stated he wants out of Liverpool, and potentially the Premier League as the English media were said to be victimising him last season. Liverpool are willing to let him go, but only for the right price.

Last season, Suarez scored 23 goals in 33 Premier League games, but the season ended in controversy after he was given a ban for biting Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanovic.

He’s played for Nacional, Groningen, and Ajax. His career total stands at 207 goals in 352 games. He’s proven himself to be a prolific goalscorer, but his discipline has always been a cause for worry.

Arsenal are expected to step up their interest to sign Suarez with an improved offer of around £35M which may be considered, however, Liverpool seemingly hold the cards to his departure.

After selling Fernando Torres for £50M at the end of the 2011/12 mid-season transfer window, the Merseyside outfit know they can hold out for the right price and force Suarez’ suitors to pay the asking price in full.

Arsenal stated this summer they are prepared to spend big-money to secure their preferred transfer targets, and have still been the only side to make an official bid.

With strikers Edinson Cavani and Radamel Falcao joining Ligue One sides Paris Saint-Germain and AS Monaco respectively, Manchester City, Chelsea and Real Madrid have been forced to change their transfer targets this summer.

Liverpool have already recruited Celta Vigo striker Iago Aspas, 25, for a fee said to be around £7M. The Spaniard could seemingly be Luis Suarez’ replacement.
