Former Manchester United manager, Sir Alex Ferguson has lifted the lid on Paul Pogba’s departure during his time at the club.
The Juventus midfielder is perhaps the most wanted footballer at the moment, with clubs like Barcelona, Manchester City and Chelsea willing to smash their transfer records to land the player.
Pogba was disillusioned with life under Sir Alex and opted out due to the lack of first team opportunities.
During the launch of his new, Sir Alex reflected on the situation and explained that Pogba’s departure had a lot to do with his agent, Mino Raiola.
The legendary manager hinted that the player was badly advised by the agent. Furthermore, he also stated that he did not get along with Pogba’s agent.
βHe and I were like oil and water,β Ferguson said.
Raiola has a reputation of getting the best deals for his clients, even if it means forcing moves. The Italian agent is often hired by players looking to make a big move. Referred to as the ‘Pizza guy’, for his ability to deliver, Raiola represents several high profile clients such as Pogba, Balotelli and Zlatan.
Speaking of Pogba, there should be no doubts about Raiola having a big say in his Manchester United exit. Recent comments from the italian suggest that he is keen to get his client out of Juventus as well.
Raiola has claimed recently that Pogba will continue to play his football at a club that pays him the highest salary. It is quite evident why he and Ferguson never got along.
Remember Wayne Rooney and his wage demands? Giving in to demands just wasn’t an option for Sir Alex.
