Carlo Ancelotti was asked about the future of midfielder of Sami Khedira again in the post match press conference yesterday where the Italian said “I gave him permission to leave. He is not interested in knowing about his future.”
Khedira has a contract till 2015 and is not keen to renew it. Arsenal and Chelsea have been heavily linked with the German midfielder this summer, but none of the clubs are willing to meet his high wage demands.
Also, various media outlets reported that Khedira would cost around €20-25m, which is too much for a player who has hardly played last season and has only one year remaining on his contract.
However, Spanish newspaper El Confidencial reports today that Real Madrid are ready to sell him in the summer for only €15m. The Los Blancos have an avalanche of central midfielders at their disposal where is likely to drop down the pecking orders at the club behind Kroos and Modric.
It remains to be seen whether Arsenal or Chelsea can secure a deal for him before the transfer window shuts.
