Roma are all set to lose their star defender Mehdi Benatia this summer to Bayern Munich. According to widespread reports in Italy, Roma have agreed a deal to sell Benatia to Bayern for a package deal of around €30m.
The Moroccan international will fly to Germany and seal his transfer within next 48 hours, claim Gazzetta dello Sport.
The pink coloured Italian newspaper suggest that Roma didn’t hesitate to make an alternative move and have moved quickly to sign Arsenal target Kostas Monalos.
Gazzetta claim that Manolas could officially become a Roma player by today. Talks were held yesterday, with Olympiakos demanding around €15m.
In the end, Roma have sealed the deal for around €13m and now the defender will sign a five year contract at the club.
However, the picture was not quite the same only a week ago. Journalists close to Arsenal claimed that the Gunners are seriously preparing a deal for Manolas and were hopeful of completing a deal at the earliest.
Manolas impressed during the World Cup in Brazil for the Greece. I personally think Arsenal didn’t shown enough interest in the 23-year-old. Plus, Roma tabled a better offer and moved quickly to seal the deal.
