Rodgers wants unsettled Arsenal & Manchester United target Mateo Kovacic

Liverpool are ready to make an £8million summer bid for Inter Milan midfielder Mateo Kovacic after his agent revealed the player is growing increasingly disillusioned with life in Italy.

Kovacic

Kovacic is considered to be one of the most talented young midfielders in Italy. He is versatile and has established himself as one of the emerging talents in world football, after his move to Serie A from Dinamo Zagreb last January.

While he was played a lot under previous manager Andrea Stramaccioni, he has been dropped in recent weeks by Walter Mazzarri.

Reports claim the Croatian wonder-kid has fallen out of favour and he might leave in the summer transfer window.

“Everybody is confused as to why Mateo is not playing,” Kovacic’s agent Nikky Vuksan told the Italian media.

‘Is there a row with Mazzarri I can’t say a lot, but he is not happy.”

Liverpool are thought to be a long term admirers of the pass-master, and the Metro claim they are ready to make a bid of £8m just before the World Cup, as the club look for a long term replacement of Steven Gerrard.

Manchester United are also thought to be interested in the midfielder. Back in the January transfer window, we reported that Inter Milan were ready to sell Kovacic to United, should they allow Javier Hernandez as a part of the deal.

Likewise, North London giants Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur have been monitoring his situation as well.
