According to The Athletic’s David Ornstein, Arsenal manager Unai Emery is likely to be sacked today following the side’s poor start to the campaign.

The North Londoners are without a win in their last seven games across all competitions, and yesterday’s 2-1 Europa League loss at the hands of Bundesliga outfit Eintracht Frankfurt could trigger the board into action.

If Emery is sacked, he will be replaced with assistant first-team coach Freddie Ljungberg on a temporary basis.

The Spaniard succeeded Arsene Wenger May last year, leading the club to the Europa League final at the end of last season, but his 18-month reign could be over today.

Arsenal have won just four league games this season, losing thrice and drawing the other six, and have picked up 18 points so far.

They are currently six points off the top-four, and are currently top of Group F in the Europa League, but there is growing discontent among the players, staff and supporters, and Emery doesn’t look capable of turning their dip in form and confidence around.
