With reports out of the Santiago Bernabeu suggesting the exodus of center back Sergio Ramos, Real Madrid are exploring contingency plans in central defense.
According to Mediaset Sport in Italy, the Spanish giants have approached Juventus with a €30 million bid for 28-year old Leonardo Bonucci. Bonucci has two years remaining on the five-year contract he signed after the 2011-2012 season.
The defender led Juventus in appearances with 52 across all competitions this past season, and has won four Serie A titles and a Coppa Italia crown during his time in Turin. He also started every game during the Bianconeri‘s run to the Champions League final.
Bonucci is known for his exceptional positioning, discipline, and ability to launch attacks from the back with well-placed passes. On a team like Madrid, which features loads of pace along its front line, he would likely thrive.
Juventus have no pressure to sell after amassing a small fortune in Champions League prize money this season, but are said to be looking into potential replacements like former Roma and current Bayern Munich defender Medhi Benatia.
