Arsenal moved to the top of Group F in the Champions League after they defeated Borussia Dortmund 1-0 at the Westfalenstadion yesterday, where Aaron Ramsey scored the winner for the Gunners. With that victory, the Gunners are now on a 15 games unbeaten run away from home, winning 14 out of it.

Jurgen Klopp, the Dortmund manager feels Arsenal have the potential to lift the Champions League trophy, provided they avoid European champs Bayern Munich. He said as quoted in the ESPN:

“Yes, they can win it. They are young, healthy and have good technicians. They won a clever game and could go to the final and win it – so long as they don’t play Bayern Munich.”

So, can Arsenal win the Champions League? It is difficult to predict at the moment, but the Gunners indeed have a great chance. The problem is, with them the skepticism always prevails. Having not won a single trophy in many years, not many people probably are taking their title chances too seriously, so far.

They can use it as an advantage – focusing on their job and getting away from the media hype. While the league is a marathon race and things can change quite dramatically at times, but they do have a strong chance in Europe. It is all about getting the better of your opponents on the two-legged tie only and it doesn’t require you to be the best team in the world to do so. We all know how away results make huge difference in the knock-out stages. So, if Arsenal can maintain this impressive away record throughout their European campaign, they would be a real hard team to beat.

Plus, Arsenal at the moment are losing so many key players but in a few months time expect everyone/most of them to return, which will only add depth to the existing squad. So, essential when a team is challenging on both fronts – domestic and Europe. Further, if Wenger can add a solid striker to the squad in January, it will give them a healthy edge in terms of team balance. All hypothetical factors considered, I don’t see any reason, why Arsenal cannot go all the way in Europe this time around.
