Manchester United’s unsettled striker Wayne Rooney is prepared to issue a formal transfer request in order to force through a move to Chelsea. Elsewhere, Fulham are reportedly closing in on the mercurial Adel Taarabt while Everton are making a move for the highly rated Ajax defender, Alderweireld. All these and plenty more in our Premier League transfer round up segment today.
Wayne Rooney Saga
Having seen Chelsea’s second bid in the region of £30 million rejected, Rooney is becoming increasingly concerned with United’ stance towards his proposed move to Chelsea and is contemplating whether to hand in a transfer request to force through a move to the London club as per reports from The Guardian.
Rooney is not only disillusioned with life at Old Trafford but is equally intrigued with the prospect of playing under Jose Mourinho. His relation with manager Sir Alex Ferguson went beyond repair last season and the situation hasn’t improved even with the arrival of a new manager. Further, Rooney was left angry and confused, with the remarks of David Moyes, when the Scot insisted that the former Everton striker will mainly play the role of a second fiddle to Dutchman Robin van Persie.
Chelsea to keep hold of star duo
Juan Mata insists that he is very happy to stay at the London club after the Spaniard was assured that he remains a key cog in the well drilled machine that is Chelsea under Jose Mourinho.
Also, Chelsea are not looking to entertain offers for defender David Luiz, who has been targeted by La Liga giants Barcelona. The Catalan giants have earmarked Luiz as their prime target and are looking to lodge yet another bid, having seen their first offer rebuffed. However, Daily Mail understands that Luiz will not be sold at any price as he remains a vital part of Mourinho’s plans.
Another hint why Bale is on his way to Real Madrid
Tottenham have removed Gareth Bale as the header of the club’s official twitter account, a move that will spark further speculation about the Welshman’s future.
Previously, the photograph of Bale and Dempsey occupied the left and right side of the Twitter home page. Dempsey’s image has been removed, since he joined Seattle Sounders and was replaced by a photograph of Aaron Lennon, while Moussa Dembélé has taken the place of Bale.
Mercurial Taarabt on way to Fulham
Fulham boss Martin Jol has confirmed that QPR playmaker Adel Taarabt will undergo a medical at the Craven Cottage, over a proposed season-long loan deal.
“We agreed everything with the club so the only thing we have to do is a medical,” Jol said. “If that is sound and good, he will join us.”
Everton make move for Ajax star
Everton have registered their interest in signing Belgium international Toby Alderweireld, his agent has confirmed.
The 24-year-old, who was also a target for Liverpool, rejected an offer from Norwich City earlier in the summer. The Toffees have already signed one defender in Antolín Alcaraz but Martinez wants further additions in that department.
