With just one week left for the Premier League to begin, Liverpool still have two pre-season games to get ready. The club will face Barcelona later today in a game that is basically all about Luis Suarez. The Uruguayan will face his former club for the first time since his departure two years ago.
It will be interesting to see how Jurgen Klopp lines up his team. So far, he has mostly employed the 4-3-3 formation and is likely to persist with the same.
The Reds have a number of absentees. Mamadou Sakho, Joe Gomez, Lucas, Loris Karius, Ovie Ejaria have all been ruled out. Alberto Moreno is also a doubt having picked up a knock in the US, leaving defenders in short supply once again.
Klopp has however been boosted with the return of Joel Matip, Marko Grujic and Divock Origi. While it is not certain, they could return after missing the Roma defeat through minor injuries. It will of course be up to the German, whether he allows them maximum recovery time or uses them to ensure his preparation for next week are not halted.
Liverpool signed 6 new players this summer and hence, Klopp does have quality and depth to boast, for the quick-fire double-header against Barcelona and Mainz.
Here is how he could set out his team
Possible starting line-up (4-3-3): Mignolet; Clyne, Klavan, Lovren, Randall; Can, Henderson; Mane, Firmino, Coutinho; Sturrridge
