Seven games to go in the Premier League. It’s hotting up now! Arsenal have a massive game at Birmingham City and to be honest, they need the three points. Forget about potentially one of the greatest, purist, games of football matches; against Barcelona, all focus has to be on the Birmingham game to keep within the top of the table.
Birmingham have played fantastic, and have fought for their right to be in the Premier League. They look to be safe, pretty easily. This is probably one of the biggest games of the season for Arsenal, and Birmingham will not make it easy. The first thing Alex Mcleish said after their loss at Blackburn was that he wanted to make sure that any mistakes made against the Rovers, were corrected before the game against Arsenal.
Arsenal have Vermaelen suspended and have Song ready to deputise and have the option of Silvestre to play there. I think this is the potential slip-up for Arsenal and they have to show, like against Stoke and Hull, that they have the capabilities to be champions. The team have showed the grit and determination, but it all goes out the window if they do not win the game.
I don’t want to dwell on the Eduardo leg break, two years ago, because that was a different season. In my opinion, Gallas showed passion. He was incensed with the penalty given against his side. Unfortunately, Gallas won’t play to “exercise his demons”. The memory of the game should serve as inspiration to both teams.
Birmingham because they grabbed a point and Arsenal will want to correct their mistakes. It is important to focus on football, as it will be a great battle. The Arsenal fans believe in their team, for the first time in years. Birmingham will be right behind their team, what a great game of football in store.
