The confidence in the Arsenal camp is sky-high at the moment after the Gunners earned back to back victories against two big teams – Liverpool and Borussia Dortmund. Sitting top of the table, now they face champions Manchester United at the Old Trafford and a victory here will take them 11 points clear of their opponents on Sunday.
Arsene Wenger will be boosted by the return of midfield enforcer Mathieu Flamini for this match. Jack Wilshere is also fit but whether he will be fit enough to start the match remains to be seen. Therefore, expect Wenger to field more or less the same team that earned them a memorable victory at Germany in the midweek.
In the defence, skipper Thomas Vermaelen will have to wait for his chances again. Wenger will remember how his error led to Robin van Persie’s opening goal at OT last season. Bacary Sagna and Kieran Gibbs will operate on the right and left back roles, while Koscielny and Mertesacker will perform the job at the heart of defence.
In the midfield, Wenger will surely deploy Flamini for this tie alongside the ever reliable Mikel Arteta. That means Tomas Rosicky could miss out while Aaron Ramsey could be drifted out wide. Olivier Giroud will operate as the lone striker in the side.
