Former Arsenal midfielder and now Sky Sports pundit Paul Merson says that if United lose their against Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday, they can say good-bye to their top four chances.
United are currently occupying the fourth place in the table but face a series of tough fixtures against Premier League heavy weights like Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester United in quick succession.
Louis van Gaal has been able to deliver the results so far, however, the performances hasn’t always been up to the mark that has lead to frustrations among the fans.
Merson told Sky Sports while previewing United’s clash with Tottenham:
“If Man Utd lose this match, then they can say goodbye to their top-four chances. They’ve have got some tough games to come. Louis van Gaal doesn’t know his best eleven yet and Man Utd don’t know who their best manager is.
I don’t think they can say confidently ‘he’s the man’ – not after what I’ve been watching the last seven months. Harry Kane will cause them havoc.”
Although defeat on Sunday would not put United out of top four race, but it will certainly add more pressure on the team and manager.
However, his criticism on Van Gaal not knowing his best XI can be debated. Why not let your thoughts know on that matter below?
