Reports from Italy suggest that Serie A champion Juventus are closing on Manchester United outcast winger Nani in the impending transfer market.
We have been keeping tabs on Nani’s future over the past few weeks and have reported that the Portuguese is set for an exit from Old Trafford.
Nani has fallen down the pecking order at United having featured in just 12 appearances for the Red Devils scoring a solitary goal. The 27 year old is now the third choice behind Antonio Valencia and Ashley Young for the right wing spot while the meteoric rise of youngster Adnan Januzaj has meant Nani has spent much of his time on the sidelines.
Juventus are desperate to strengthen their squad in the summer and manager Antonio Conte believes a spending spree will help the Old Lady mount a challenge for next season’s Champions League. There are speculations in Italy that Conte is set to do away his trademark 3-5-2 formation and adopt a more flexible 4-3-3 attacking setup and hence wants Nani to feature on the right wing thanks to his dazzling quality on the ball and bursts of pace out wide.
Conte is also after Barcelona’s Alexis Sanchez, the Chilean who has failed to notch a permanent starting eleven spot at the Camp Nou thanks to the arrival of Neymar last summer. Sanchez is familiar to the Serie A having earlier dazzled with Udinese playing as an advanced midfielder in a supporting striker’s role.
