Two things are known to all – first, Manchester United need a central midfielder in the summer and secondly, manager David Moyes will be handed a hefty transfer kitty to operate. Now, go and link with any central midfielder you want.
While English newspapers are trying to convince us that the Red Devils are targeting host of German players like Kroos and Gundogan, reports in Spanish press suggest that Manchester United could make a move for former Arsenal midfielder, Alex Song.
The 26-year-old midfielder has only managed 9 league starts this season and has often played in defence as well, as usual with the cases of several other Barcelona midfielders. The Cameroon international is keen to get regular game time under his belt and therefore could jump the ship, if the opportunity arrives, though in the report it says the player is happy at Barcelona.
Song’s agent Darren Dein has had several contacts with other clubs for a feasible transfer move in the summer.
Song is currently not interested in discussing his future until the end of the season, but Dein is expected to keep the communications going with Barcelona hierarchies, letting them know of Manchester United’s interest in the player.
