Lyon have issued an ultimatum to Manchester United and Liverpool target, Alexandre Lacazette.
The French striker is one of best young forwards in the world and is being courted by several Premier League clubs.
Liverpool were believed to be closing in on the French goal machine, but the £32m signing of Christian Benteke probably means that the Reds have moved on from the Lyon star. However, Manchester United are still looking for a striker and Lacazette is a target.
L’Equipe have confirmed that Lyon have asked Lacazette to renew his contract soon, or else they will be forced to cash in on him this summer.
With the likes of United, Arsenal etc needing a top quality striker this summer, there will be no shortage of suitors for the Lyon man. Also, their £35m asking price is unlikely to scare away the suitors, especially after the new TV deal.
Lacazette will be a tremendous addition to United/Liverpool and can operate in a number of roles across the front three. Predominantly a creative number nine, Lacazette can also drop deeper and operate as an Enganche, giving the likes of Van Gaal and Rodgers a lot of options.
It will be interesting to see how the player reacts to the club’s ultimatum. But with a few weeks remaining in the window, these stories point towards a thrilling climax to an impressive window so far.
