Manchester United could miss out on yet another transfer target, Borussia Dortmund’s Mats Hummels, in the summer, with reports in Spain suggesting that the highly rated German is apparently looking to move to Barcelona, should he leave Dortmund.

The 25-year-old is one of the finest ball-playing defenders of this generation and, going by the rumours, Manchester United manager David Moyes has been targeting him to replace the departing skipper Nemanja Vidic.

However, Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo claims that chances of Hummels joining the Catalan giants are significantly higher, as he could slot straight into the team, replacing the departing club legend Carles Puyol.

Furthermore, the report says Hummels has confessed to his close friends that he sees his future at the Catalan club, and will be trying to impress the Barca officials with his performances in the upcoming 2014 World Cup in Brazil.

Mundo Deportivo speculates that Hummels might consider his future, despite the fact he has three years remaining on his contract, having seen quality players gradually departing from Borussia Dortmund to other top clubs.

But most importantly, the German star feels he could take his game to a different level and continue to grow as a player at Barcelona.
