Manchester United have reportedly agreed a fee in signing Bayern Munich star Toni Kroos in the summer transfer window.
The Express reports that the Red Devils have now agreed a deal in bringing the midfielder to Old Trafford. While this is unlikely to be sorted out so quickly considering Bayern are loathe to sell home-grown talent, Kroos along with Fabregas represents United’s primary midfield targets since last summer.
The German international has been linked with a move to United from the start of the year as they were eyeing for a January transfer. However, the deal did not take shape and David Moyes was focusing on another approach in the summer. Things did not go as planned for the former Everton manager as he was shown the exit door by United chiefs after they were mathematically out of the race to finish in top four.
With Moyes’ exit, the negotiations with Kroos’ camp over a potential transfer went cold.
United appointed Louis van Gaal as the Scot’s successor for the next campaign on Monday. The announcement of the former Barcelona boss as the new United manager and already has a “principle in agreement” to make a switch to Old Trafford in the summer transfer window.
The 24-year-old has one year left on his contract and has already rejected a chance to sign a new deal to extend his stay with the Bundesliga champions.
Meanwhile, an earlier report from ESPN claimed that United were confident of sealing a deal for the German midfielder. Kroos could be first of the many high-profile signings of this summer transfer window.
ESPN believes Van Gaal will sign at least six top class players and Kroos would be the first of the lot to arrive at Old Trafford. The same report also suggests that the Red Devils are also closing in on landing Southampton star Luke Shaw in the summer transfer window.
