Barcelona are interested in signing Raheem Sterling who is currently on the books of Manchester City, according to reports.
The English footballer joined the Sky Blues in the summer of 2015 in a £50m deal from Liverpool.
Since his arrival at the Etihad Stadium, he has clocked up 307 appearances across all competitions, scoring an impressive 116 goals in the process (stats from Transfermarkt).
However, the 26-year-old has only started three Premier League matches this season under manager Pep Guardiola, with Jack Grealish and Phil Foden ahead of him in the pecking order.
He remained on the bench in the Citizens’ 2-0 victory over Manchester United last week.
The talented winger’s current contract at City is set to expire in 2023 and it is said that he doesn’t want to renew his deal.
He is interested in leaving the Premier League outfit due to lack of playing time.
And as per a report from Metro, the Citizens are willing to let the 26-year-old leave if they receive an offer of around £45 million.
Raheem Sterling is a highly talented player who can operate as a winger, attacking midfielder or striker. He is known for his pace, technical abilities and dribbling skills.
It is understandable that he wants to depart City because a player of his quality should be getting regular game time.
However, with several players ahead of him in the pecking order, Sterling is unlikely to get regular football action at the Etihad Stadium.
