It finally looks as if Lukas Podolski is set to end his misadventure at Arsenal. Reports from yesterday night in the trusted and reliable TMW have claimed that the Gunners have set a £4m asking price on the player who can finally head towards the exit from the Emirates in January.
The German has hardly featured this season for the North London side and had earlier given vent to his frustrations saying he wants to get regular game time. The 29 year who isn’t sure of enough playing time at Arsenal claimed that he wants to be involved on a more regular basis:
“I want to play. If you take me to the competition and the fun, I’m not satisfied.”
We had reported earlier that Podolski has attracted interest from Serie A Champions Juevntus while Napoli are also interested in the player. It is now believed that Inter Milan, Bayern Munich, FC Cologne and French side Monaco are also keeping tabs on Podolski’s current situation. Podolski was also linked with a move to Italy in the summer but somehow stayed put at the Emiartes.
German national team coach Joachin Loew has also urged Podolski to quit Arsenal and look for regular first-team football elsewhere. Loew said, “For Luke is imperative that he plays somewhere regularly. Therefore, his situation is currently not optimal.” A host of clubs will now pursue Podolski’s signature in the upcoming January transfer window but it would be interesting to see where he finally makes a move.
The recent developments however come as contradictory to what Arsene Wenger said recently. The Arsenal manager made it clear that the German isn’t up for sale.
Wenger said: “It is not established at all that he will leave at Christmas. It is me who sets the price and doesn’t correspond at all to his price. He is not for sale and there is no offer.”
