Liverpool striker Luis Suarez is inching closer to join Spanish giants Barcelona, following a day of “productive talks” where both the clubs are closing in on settling an outline agreement of the forward’s value.
According to the reports from The Guardian, Barcelona have offered around £70m for the controversial forward, but Liverpool seeking in the region of £80 million for the 27-year-old.
Raul Sanllehi and Antoni Rossich, Barcelona’s football director and general director, represented the Catalan club at the negotiations in London in presence of Liverpool managing director Ian Ayre, where the Reds have reaffirmed their desire to sign Barcelona’s world class winger Alexis Sanchez.
Barcelona are prepared to sell Sanchez, and ideally would love to include him in a part exchange deal for Suarez, but the situation is complicated by the Chile winger not yet having determined where to join next season, amidst interest from Juventus and Arsenal.
The Times reports that regardless of whether Sanchez moves to Liverpool or not, Suarez is likely to move to the Nou Camp. The Uruguayan has agreed a personal deal to join the Catalan giants and wants his future to be resolved quickly in order to avoid any prospect of an acrimonious departure from Liverpool.
Liverpool are maintaining a close interest in Benfica forward Lazar Markovic while a deal for Divock Origi, the Lille forward, also close to completion.
