According to reports from the Gianluca Di Marzio website form Italy, Villarreal striker Luciano Vietto has admitted that he could leave the Spanish club in the upcoming summer transfer window. Liverpool and Arsenal have been linked with the 21 year old Argentine who has scored 18 goals this season.
The report states that Atletico Madrid are interested in the player and could soon make a bid to secure hsi services. Regrading the rumours gathering pace, Vietto was quoted saying, “I can’t guarantee anything about my future. My idea is to stay here, but should Atletico Madrid pay the exit clause in my contract, I will decided with my family and my agent. We’ll make the right decision.”
Spanish media outlet AS have also reported that both Liverpool and Arsenal have offered Villarreal his release clause which as per the report stands at $20m (£13.08m). Vietto has a contract with Villarreal with 2019 and the Spanish side want to negotiate with the player’s agent to renew his contract which will enable them to increase his release clause figure.
The report from AS also states that Vietto wants to play for a club who can offer him Champions League Football. This certainly rules Liverpool out while it might not be surprising to see the striker play for Atletico next season thanks to the presence of Diego Simeone as manager of the Vicente Calderon side.
