Brendan Rodgers and Liverpool have come under a lot of scrutiny this season, especially because of their defending.
With the likes of Johnson departing and the uncertainty around Manquillo, Liverpool are thought to be scouring the market for a right sided full back.
According to fichajes, Montoya has looked into Liverpool’s offer of first team football and hopes to finalise a move soon.
According to the Spanish media, the Reds have had a discussion with the representatives of Barcelona defender Martin Montoya. The Spanish right back is in the mould of former Reds, Alvaro Arbeloa and would strengthen the Liverpool defence for a good few years.
Reports in Spain state that the Spanish full back is unhappy with the lack of game time and is keen to kick-start his stagnating career with a move to England.
Montoya was linked with a move to Anfield last summer. However, the deal never really materialized after he extended his contract at the club till 2018, following promises of game time.
However, the player is desperate for a move away and Liverpool are believed to be the only club with a concrete offer.
