Liverpool have officially announced yesterday that the Uruguayan will join Barcelona in coming days, after both the clubs have agreed a fee, which is thought to be in the region of £75m, though neither of the clubs have officially disclosed the amount.
Brendan Rodgers will be handed “the full proceeds from Luis Suarez’s club-record sale to Barcelona”, claims The Times, that means we can expect Liverpool to delve into the transfer market and buy few good players in coming months.
To be honest replacing a player like Luis Suarez is not easy but Liverpool can do a number of signings that will improve the squad as a whole.
Already the club have signed Emre Can, Rickie Lambert and Adam Lallana for a combined fee of £37m. If the reports are to be believed Liverpool are closing in on Benfica striker Lazar Markovic, while have already tabled an offer for Southampton defender Dejan Lovren.
It is highly likely that Liverpool will spend over £100m this summer as they look to encore their last season’s performance in the Premier League.
According to The Times, Liverpool are hoping to complete the £9.8m transfer of Belgium striker Divock Origi, while a move for Loic Remy, who is also a reported target of Arsenal, has come under consideration.
Liverpool have also made inquiries for Swansea City duo Ben Davies and Wilfried Bony and have retained interest in Alberto Moreno as well.
