Liverpool are plotting a move for Benfica striker Rodrigo, who is also a reported target of Arsenal.
Rodrigo has found the net 10 times this season, and also scored against Tottenham in his sides’s 3-1 Europa League win at White Hart Lane last week, and according to The Mirror, Liverpool are ready to launch a £25m offer in the hope of bring the player to Anfield next summer.
Arsenal were also heavily interested in the striker. During the January transfer window, we reported that Arsenal were genuinely interested in the 22-year-old and had even made contacts with Benfica officials.
However, Liverpool are thought to be confident of clinching this deal, given the strong contacts the club has in Portugal.
Money probably won’t be a problem for the Reds, who are almost certain to qualify for the Champions League spot next season.
Rodrigo started his youth career in Spain and joined Real Madrid at an early stage. He couldn’t make the grade at Santiago Bernabeu and moved to Benfica in 2010.
Liverpool were left frustrated in the last two transfer windows, failing to land several top targets, and manager Brendan Rodgers will expect a change of fortune in the transfer market, especially with European football to offer next season.
