We have an update on Liverpool target Victor Valdes. Last week Catalan based newspaper Mundo Deportivo reported that Valdes is likely to join Liverpool, and he is focussed on regaining his full fitness at the earliest.
The 32-year-old free agent was on the verge of joining Monaco this summer but a serious knee injury prevented him from getting transferred.
English press picked up reports from thin air and added spice to the story by claiming that Valdes had been offered a four day trial at the club to prove his fitness.
The story, however, has been rubbished by Victor Valdes’ agent, Gines Carvajal, who says no such offer has been made for the former Barcelona goal keeper.
“This proposal was never made to us by Brendan Rodgers or Liverpool at any moment,” he said. Liverpool has not offered training for four days. We have not rejected the offer because it is false.”
Liverpool are interested in securing his signature, but the club is expected not to move on with the deal unless he regains his full fitness.
Sky Italia journalist Fabrizio Romano has an update to the story. He claims via twitter that Liverpool have only discussed about wages with the player, but no agreement has been reached between both the parties.
