After having signed Raheem Sterling from Liverpool, in the summer, Manchester City are prepared to return to Merseyside for Philippe Coutinho.
The Premier League giants are looking to replace their 30 year old talisman, David Silva and Pellegrini believes Coutinho is the ideal candidate for that.
The Brazilian has attracted a lot of interest after his splendid performances since the turn of the year. Recently, Barcelona are thought to be looking at the Liverpool playmaker as a long term replacement for Andres Iniesta.
Although Barcelona director, Fernandez claimed that the Catalans are well stocked in that department, it is reported that the interest is genuine.
According to Daily Mirror, City have now joined the race for the Liverpool star.
Coutinho’s agent has recently rubbished the transfer rumours, stating that his client is happy at Liverpool and wants to qualify for the Champions league next season.
Liverpool are set to welcome new manager, Jurgen Klopp to Anfield tomorrow and it seems the former Borussia Dortmund manager might have a priority task on his hands already.
The German needs to convince Coutinho to stay and help him build the side.
Furthermore, Sterling had 2 years remaining on his deal, which forced Liverpool to cash out. But Coutinho has only just signed a new deal and FSG will be unwilling to let him go just yet.
It will be interesting to see how the situation pans out, but it seems Coutinho might just be the most talked about transfer saga next summer.
