Ever since Lionel Messi gave that interview to Argentine newspaper Ole, where he gave a hint that he might leave Barcelona some day, there has been lots of speculations going on. Messi’s father believes that his son’s quotes were misinterpreted. What Messi actually tried to convey is he wants to spend the rest of his career here but he is not the only one who can decide his future, indirectly hinting Barca’s board members could play a part in deciding his future.
Catalan newspaper Sport have drawn a list of realistic candidates who can lure Lionel Messi away from Camp Nou, should the Argentine decides to leave or better to say Barcelona decide to sell. Messi has a reported release clause of €250m.
Sport speculate at the moment four clubs have realistic chances of landing him – PSG, Manchester City, Chelsea and Inter Milan.
PSG – They want more quality to go further in the Champions League. It’s an ambitious project, already have a very strong squad and good relations with Barca.
Manchester City: “When money is no objective, they are always a possibility. Txiki and Kun would help combine money and friendship.”
Chelsea: The Blues also fall into this category. Sport say, if Mourinho asks for him, Roman is capable of doing anything for him.
Inter Milan: Sport believe that Leo would feel really happy in Milan. Now with Thohir, the Indonesian magnate, there is money for the Serie A giants to spend. Bayern is another club that would have the finances to sign Leo but they haven’t made any effort in public or private to find out about Leo’s situation.
