According to German football magazine Kicker, Bayern Munich striker Mario Mandzukic will not return to his former club Wolfsburg in the summer. The news comes in the wake of our earlier report when it seemed that the Croatian would be joining his former team mate Luis Gustavo in a switch to his join the Volkswagen Arena outfit.
Wolfsburg executive Stephan Gruhsem claimed, “Mandzukic will not return to the club.”
This would be come as a welcome boost for Arsenal in particular who have been linked with the 28 year old for the past few months. Arsene Wenger is in the market for a quality striker who can take the ressure off Olivier Girud as the Gunners are desperate to mount a serious title challenge in the coming 2014-15 Premier League season.
Chelsea too are interested in the striker who had yet another brilliant season personally scoring scoring 21 goals and grabbing 6 assists in 41 appearances for the Bavarians. With Diego Costa almost likely to sign for the Stamford Bridge outfit, Mandzukic would surely add to a brilliant squad under manager Jose Mourinho.
Manchester United too are interested in the Croatian who has fallen out with Pep Guardiola saying that he doesn’t fit in the Spaniard’s system and his future is increasingly likely to be away from the Allianz Arena.
So what do you think will be the end result of the mad scramble for the dazzling striker? Who will acquire his services in the summer? Let us know in comments below.
