By eleven o’clock this evening we will know who is this season’s La Liga champions.
Real Madrid begin the day in poll position, knowing that a victory at home to Mallorca will bring them their first trophy in four years regardless of what happens elsewhere. Madrid will be hoping to gain a two goal cushion as soon as possible in order to shake off any nerves. Torres is Madrid’s only missing player and he is expected to be replaced by Michel Salgado. Mallorca face the game without two important players, Ibagaza and Jankovic. David Beckham and Roberto Carlos will be hoping their last game for Madrid will end in victory.
Barça will also be looking for early goals with the hope that they can turn up the pressure on Madrid. Ronaldinho is back in place of Gudjohnsen. If Madrid draw Barça need to win, a Barça draw would only be good enough in the unlikely event of a Madrid defeat. Barça have won 8 of their 18 leagues on the last day of the season.
Sevilla also have a very small chance of surprising everyone. This can only happen if they win their game at home to Villarreal, Barça lose in Tarragona and Madrid fail to beat Mallorca.
Optimistic Prediction:
Madrid 1 Mallorca 1
Nástic 1 Barça 3
Sevilla 2 Villarreal 0
