Juventus snub Arsenal’s approach for Pogba

Serie A champions Juventus have recently rebuffed any interest for their highly-rated midfielder Paul Pogba – most notably from Arsenal.

‘Forget Pogba. We have no intention of listening to proposals that can be received in our midfield.’ – Juventus chief executive Beppe Marotta.

Last season, the 20-year old made 27 league appearances – scoring five goals. He won the Serie A title and the Supercoppa Italiana with Juventus.

A France international, he also won the FIFA U20 World Cup – while winning the U20 World Cup Golden Ball.

This season, Pogba is hoping to add to his two caps for the France senior national team, and dreams of making the 2014 World Cup next summer.

Arsenal have enquired about his services in order to bolster their midfield options – after seeing a number of their first-team succumb to injury in recent weeks.

Their manager Arsene Wenger has received flak from the supporters as the London side have only made one signing this summer – ex-Auxerre striker Yaya Sanogo. Arsenal have been lacking in the central midfield options, and have also enquired for Newcastle’s deep-lying playmaker Yohan Cabaye.

It would appear the side will have to opt for the latter as Juventus has no plans to sell their highly-rated youngster after signing him only a year ago.

Wenger has remained tight-lipped on his interest for Pogba, but they are running out of options and time in which to procure their signatures.

The prospect of a player like the Frenchman arriving to the Emirates has got fans drooling, but they are all too used to having big-names linked – only for any potential deals to fall by the wayside.

Many fear a panic-buying of sort from the Gunners, where they compromise quality in order to have strength in depth.
