Jurgen Klopp’s future has been one of the most discussed subjects in the last few weeks. The Borussia Dortmund manager announced his departure at the end of the season and has been linked with several European clubs since then.
The likes of Manchester City, Arsenal, Liverpool, Real Madrid and even West Ham have been linked with Klopp.
There have been suggestions that the German has been earmarked as a replacement for Carlo Ancelotti, at the Bernabeu, but former Germany captain Michael Ballack says the Dortmund man is set to join a Premier League club.
Liverpool and Manchester City have both had a disappointing season with their current managers and could be looking to shake things up in the summer starting with a new manager.
According to Ballack, it makes sense for Klopp to move to England and him being able to speak English as opposed to Spanish, will help him settle quickly.
“There are several indications that suggest he will coach in England at some stage,” the former Bayern captain told Sport1.
“There’s speculation about it in England and it would make sense also for him to go to England.
“He coached one of the best clubs in Germany, he’s an open coach who enjoys international acclaim for his successes and the way he coaches. And he speaks English.”
Jurgen Klopp’s high pressing and fluid footballing philosophy would fit in perfectly with the Premier League and especially Liverpool. Furthermore, the German’s romantic nature suggests he might just pick a fallen giant (Liverpool) over an European powerhouse (Real Madrid).
Manchester City also bring an interesting challenge for Jurgen Klopp, who would have tremendous resources at his disposal and will be expected to address their European woes.
Whether Klopp moves to the Premier league, remains to be seen. However, it would be fascinating to see a character like Klopp alongside the likes of Mourinho and Van Gaal in the Premier League.
