The one transfer rumour that almost every Manchester United fan (and it is not a hyperbole) wish to come true is Cristiano Ronaldo’s return to Old Trafford.
Ronaldo may have stayed for only six years at Old Trafford, but within that period he has done enough to leave a strong legacy, to be considered as a club legend.
At Madrid, Ronaldo has taken his game to a different level. He is the all time goal scorer at Madrid, winner of three Ballon d’Ors, and reportedly the world’s richest player, earning around £288k-per-week after tax.
Ronaldo has won every possible titles at Real Madrid. He has said many times that he wants to retire at the Bernabeu, but with an added caveat ‘in-future-you-never-know’ which only sparks wild speculation on his future.
At the same time, it has been reported in Spain that he is unhappy with Rafa Benitez’s management and has given an ultimatum that he would leave the club should the Spaniard continues to be the manager.
Ronaldo has always expressed his love for Manchester United, and hinted of a possible return to Old Trafford in a recent interview.
Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal added fuel to the fire when he claimed the club would try their best to sign the Portuguese.
It seems, however, Ronaldo has no intentions of leaving Real Madrid any time soon, with his agent, Jorge Mendes, stating clearly the 30-year-old forward wants to retire at the Bernabeu.
Speaking to Canal+ Mendes touched on the issue of Ronaldo’s future, saying: “It is impossible. He will end his career at Real Madrid.”
Recently reports surfaced in the English press that Madrid are considering the options of selling either of Ronaldo or Gareth Bale next summer.
However, Real president Florentino Perez has moved to dismiss suggestions Ronaldo would be allowed to leave the Bernabeu.
It will going to be a long summer next year.
