Arsene Wenger has been dealt a huge blow this afternoon after it was confirmed that midfielder, Jack Wilshere is set to face another spell on the sidelines.

The England midfielder is still recovering from his hairline fracture and could be out till the end of October.

The Arsenal manager confirmed that Wilshere is recovering slower than he had expected and that he was certain the midfielder will not be back anytime soon.

‘I have not seen Jack Wilshere in the last two or three days,’ Wenger said. ‘He is progressing slowly and I can’t tell you much more about it.

‘It is slower than expected as I expected him to be back and available after the international break, but unfortunately he will not be available for Saturday. He had a little setback.’

It will be devastating blow for Jack Wilshere, who has had terrible luck with injuries, throughout his career. The talented central midfielder has been plagued with injuries since bursting onto the first team scene.

Manager Arsene Wenger is now set to face more criticism for not signing a midfielder this summer. Arsene Wenger’s transfer strategy was questioned by the Arsenal Supporters Trust earlier because of his decision to not sign a striker and a central midfielder.

Although Wenger got around it by saying that he has enough talent at his disposal, Wilshere’s injury is bad news for him.

Furthermore, Wilshere could be out for an extended period if he undergoes a surgery. Wenger revealed that the club do not rule out the possibility of a surgery and will take a decision after consulting the club doctors.
