Giannelli Imbula, the 22-year-old French midfielder is being considered as one of the brightest prospects in French football. His mercurial rise has altered several top Premier League clubs like Chelsea, Arsenal and Manchester United and according to France Football (relayed by Le 10 Sport) his departure from Marseille could be earlier than expected.
The highly talented midfielder was signed by Marseille little over a year for around €7.5m. He has been the key performers for Marcelo Bielsa’s side this season yet France Football suggest that the youngster could find his feet elsewhere.
The popular French magazine speculates that Imbula might leave in the summer, but it remains to be seen whether any top club signs him in the upcoming transfer window.
Lionel Maltese, a renowned economist claims that Marseille would struggle to keep hold of their star players, if they do not qualify for Champions League regularly. And even if they do so, at best they can sell their top players like Imbula or Thauvin for a higher price and with that money invest on quality young players.
