Barcelona defender Gerard Pique has been recently linked with a move to Manchester United. The Spain international wishes to finish his career at Barcelona, but admits anything is possible in future.

The 27-year-old has had a tough beginning to the new campaign under new manager Luis Enrique, managing only three starts from seven league games.

Pique, who was called up for the Spain national squad, was left on the bench for Barcelona’s 3-2 Champions League  defeat to PSG. His exclusion from the first team sparked fresh rumours of a January move to his old club Manchester United.

“I love this club for its history, its style of play and its connection to Catalunya,” he told FourFourTwo.

“I love it here. I am at the best club in the world right now. I have no intention of leaving now or later. I’ve just signed a new contract and I want to retire a Blaugrana, just like [Carlos] Puyol did.”

Pique joined Manchester United’s youth academy in 2004 and made only 12 league appearances during four years’ stay at the club. Having failed to cement his position in the first team under Sir Alex Ferguson, he left United to join Barcelona in 2008.
