Former Manchester United striker Carlos Tevez could be involved in a transfer that may see Edinson Cavani leave Paris Saint-Germain.
Reports in France are stating that PSG are interested in bringing the Argentine striker over from Juventus.
Never one to hang around, Tevez is currently in his second season with the Italian Serie A champions with little more than 18 months left on his contract.
Should the Argentine striker not agree a new contract with the Turin giants they will likely be forced to sell this summer.
That would certainly be of interest to Paris Saint-Germain who already want to bring the 30-year old to the French capital. Tevez’s representatives have been friends with the French club’s president, Nasser Al-Khelaifi, for several years.
The possible arrival of the striker could open a door for Edinson Cavani to leave. Over the summer, the PSG striker is strongly linked with a move away from France with Premier League giants Manchester United looking ominous to sign the Uruguayan international at one point.
PSG would expect at least €60 million (£47m) for the star striker which would limit the number of clubs able to make a move for Cavani.
Le 10 Sport who are reporting the potential transfer of Cavani away from the Parc des Princes say it could be done as early as January. Whether PSG would be prepared to sell their striker and sign Tevez as early as January remains to be seen – Tevez would be ineligible to represent the French side in the UEFA Champions League this season having already played for Juventus in the group stage.
For Manchester United, not being in European competition this season would not affect their January transfer dealings. If Cavani is available during that period the Premier League giants could make a swoop. However, they already have Radamel Falcao, Robin van Persie and Wayne Rooney on their books – where would the 27-year old fit in?
Carlos Tevez has scored six goals in nine Serie A matches for the Italian giants this season.
